I think it's clear that as taxes on dividends rise, the incentive to give out dividends will fall as will the incentive to invest in stocks with good dividend yield such as INTC. There are plenty of investors on this thread who would hate to see that happen.


Fine, but I think this misses the "big picture" view.

Why should taxes be much lower on dividends than other forms of income? And let's say we treat dividends as regular income, but shift the tax break to businesses that have so far been shafted by the unfair tax code? Or use the increased revenue towards closing the deficit?

Unless you look at the big picture, you're likely to bias your opinion based on one particular area, which feels to you as an INTC investor like a bad idea.

I've already shown how this could be a good thing for Intel investors, in the form of increased EPS from the lower nominal tax rate.

What are the upsides to this for INTC? Probably not much


Don't investors care about EPS any more?
