Henry Niman? I thought it might be him, LOL. This is Henry's style. He is an attention seeking quack who puts out all sorts of weird stuff on a routine basis. He is also usually wrong. Just a few of his howlers:
1. He pushed ligand for years due to the fact that he had a position in it. Last I heard they were about 7, had an E after their symbol due to accounting problems with the SEC and their biggest selling product was time released morphine that they bought from someone else. Nothing wrong with extended release opiates but these drugs are thousands of years old and not exactly original.
2. During the SARS outbreak he had similar dreck about how SARS was going to sweep the world and end the energy crisis by knocking the population down from 6 billion to 10 or some such. Sorry, can't be more specific, I usually start laughing after the second sentence of some of his ramblings.
There are some vague hints on the net that 2 ebola like animal viruses in China might have recombined which is the possible source of these rumors, but none of this info is reliable enough to take seriously. This is nothing like recombination of two non-related pathogens.
The N5H1 bird flu problem is worth keeping an eye on but not worth panicking over. A vaccine for this virus is easily doable, already exists for chickens, and there are two drugs on the market (tamiflu is the best) that are effective.
