Thanks for the reply. Much of what you say (i.e. over-reacting, especially to SARS) is fairly obvious from his web site. On the other hand, if his web site is to be believed, he does have some knowledge of flu viruses, and that is where an outsider like myself, gets left scratching his head. The reason I posted here was to get a better idea of what the real situation was from objective people with more knowledge than myself.
As for developing a vaccine, I would agree that it is doable, but production does take awhile, as I understand it, and if a new flu epidemic hit it would probably take 6 months or better for volume production. Heck, I still remember getting a swine flu shot back in the 70s, so I know they can produce a lot of vaccine if they set their minds to it. Certainly no one wants to see a repeat of 1918, so if the need becomes apparent for a vaccine, production will be no doubt be undertaken.
