I don't know what your print head area looks like on your cartridge, but whenever I refill my HP cartridges, and some of the tiny holes are plugged, I place the print head area in a saucer holding about 1/8" of household ammonia.
I just use Scotch tape over the print head area to keep it from drying out.

I've never had an issue with the nozzles drying out on my printers but they do get a fair amount of use so they don't get much of a chance to dry out. I would think that if you just typed a random paragraph every day or two and printed it, that would at least keep them moist enough so that the nozzle cleaning feature that comes with the printer would work pretty well at keeping them unclogged.

Of course, the best thing to do would be to get a lazer printer. You don't have that nozzle clogging problem with those printers. Yes, they are a little more expensive but the toner cartridges last a very long time and they aren't all that expensive. Ink jet cartridges are fairly expensive in my opinion. I know you can refill them pretty cheap but they don't really handle being refilled much more than one time.
