I chose the word "allows" with care - and agree that it could be taken either way.
In the song of Moses (Deuteronomy 32, in the Christian Bible), verse 22 uses the word "Sheol" in the version I use (NASV), which is a more literal translation than most.
"Simply stated, the concept of after life and Hell and Heaven are foreign to traditional Judaism."
I am surprised - that was not my understanding. By "traditional Judaism", do you mean Orthodox or would it pertain more to the Talmudic writings - in a related question, were there any significant groups that did believe in an afterlife? For instance, I know there were significant theological differences between the Sadducees and the Pharisees, with the Sadducees being more secular and denying the supernatural.
