The fossil record shows massive extictions of many species at certain times. Although the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction 65 million years ago gets the most press, the Pre-Cambrian extinction some 230 M yrs ago was far worse. These species no longer exist. Others have arisen to take their place. The extinctions are sudden on geologic time scales, but probably took millions of years to occur.
So to answer your question. I suggest we look around a see what's here now, then meet in a few million years and see if things have changed at all. The differences will be slight, but a few might be noticed.
I will make two predictions: MSFT will still be issuing patches for Windows 1,002,000, and Texas will have executed its entire population.
