I really don't understand what the big deal is.

You join a community. When you want to post, you have a limit of 3. You make your first post. If you aren't a multiple alias or a complete idiot, you get bumped up to 18. From the minute you hit register until years after I bump up your account the features are the exact same (unless you upgrade, of course)

It's not terribly complex or demanding from where I'm sitting. Then again, you and I have always looked at things from a totally different perspective.

If we did that and were only a fraction as "successful" in bringing new people to the site, I'd still consider that far better than multiple accounts spamming the heck out of Raging Bull, reflecting very poorly on us, and not resulting in a worthwhile contribution to the site anyway. Quality posting contributes to the site. A ton of empty accounts adds nothing. They were adding seriously to Matt's workload dealing with something that's completely irrelevant for non-posters. That's a problem. The solution was implemented today and affects all new accounts, no matter who referred them.
