Thats exactly what I did to the volvo Phil, same thing , rust and pitting around the windsheild, I have this waterproof fiber reinforced bondo typ stuff i use, thats really nice, A lil harder to sand and work with, but waterproof!!!! Sounds like you are on the right path with it phil!!!, And yes the folks we towed got a bang out of it and said, they were beinbg towed in style haaaaaaaaaaa They got a kick out of "My LIL Woodie"""
