The positive predictive value (PPV) between SVR12 and SVR24 measurements was 98% and the negative predictive value (NPV) was 99%.

Moreover, I would submit that these numbers are trending even higher as HCV regimens become better and better.

SVR24 was a reasonable primary endpoint in the bad old days of treatment for 48 weeks with only interferon + ribavirin, but it’s overkill today, IMO.

In 24-week interferon-based studies patients aren't sticking around to complete the additional 12-weeks of interferon follow-up therapy once they achieve a SVR-12. 24-weeks isn't an issue unless you are talking about 12 more weeks of intolerable interferon therapy. I feel this change is overdue.
