It seems as though during the HD transfer that was done from the old HD to the new machine the old HD might have been wiped clean of the files needed to be able to boot up the computer. That is however just a guess, and I'm certain that one of the more tech savvy people on this board might have a better opinion.
Perhaps making a cloned copy of the HD on your new machine might get the old machine back up and running. It would require purchasing a new, compatible hard drive which is not very expensive, and from the sound of things you need a new hard drive for that old machine anyway if you plan on keeping that computer as a backup, or whatever. And you would also need to purchase the software needed to clone the new drive. Again, that would not be very expensive. You can get a USB cloning cable that comes with the needed software from Newegg for about 20 dollars if memory serves me.
