harry....

If you would read my posts, you would know that I absolutely do not believe that science and religion are mutually exclusive -- far from it. That is only true when science contradicts the clear teaching of Scripture which does not occur often but does crop up in the very important area of evolution. When such a contradiction occurs, the Scriptures are correct, and I will follow them, not the current beliefs of "science."

I used the fatuous example of the winged and eyed "worm" because I so often see on the discovery channel, or NPT, or the History channel various "science" shows that take the evolutionary viewpoint and so often opine that various animals grew long beaks because they needed them to get to bugs better or grew very keen eyes in order to see their prey better which is such nonsense -- like they all sat down in a town meeting and decided that the best thing they could do to meet their needs would be to grow a prehensile thumb so they could grab things better, then they went out and did so.

You are right about one thing -- in very many (most, in fact) instances, science is in agreement with Scripture and does not detract from Christian beliefs. But creation and evolution are not one and the same -- God gave His account of creation and it is not at all compatible with evolution.
