unless of course, they meant it to be a coordinated publicity stunt.

Bingo. Here's the next act:

"TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 2005-- AMD Japan (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, David M. Uze, President and Representative Director) today filed two claims against Intel Corporation's Japanese subsidiary, Intel K.K., in the Tokyo High Court and the Tokyo District Court for damages arising from violations of Japan's Antimonopoly Act."

Duke, Surely they could spare a couple to determine WHETHER A THIRD OF THEIR CASE IS BULLSHIT, if if is, before waisting the Court's time, unless of course, they meant it to be a coordinated publicity stunt.

AMD has all but admitted this. Full-page ads in seven newspapers, a website at AMD called "Break Free," and many people in the industry recognizing the suit as a PR stunt.

You post some excellent thoughts, but AMD clearly intends to fight this case in the court of public opinion. I never thought AMD would stoop this low, especially when they have so much going for them in terms of Opteron and Hypertransport, but I guess the AMDroids and Wells Fargo proves that AMD has plenty of supporters willing to fight for the "cause."

Re: AMD has made allegations in the complaint that really don't belong in the complaint such as "Bob said to Ralph".

Wrong. If Bob or Ralph are willing to testify, or if you can demonstrate through other means that conversation took place, you put it in the complaint.

Re: There are some procedures for gaining and preserving evidence in anticipation of filing suit, such as a deposition to perpetuate testimony.

And AMD has done so - for the past several years they've had a team doing just that.

What's even better is that they've clearly managed to do it without tipping off Intel.

Intel was caught flat-footed and off guard, and they're going to get knocked down - hard.

I can tell you're upset about what you know is about to be done to your beloved Intel, but just face the facts and accept that Intel is going to get nailed on this one.
