teddi....this has been gone over for years, but one more time.

You showed the "family" visitor policy. Yes, they normally go
through metal detector or are scanned with the metal detector
wand (including feet). Things like weaponry shows up on that
scan. They are not normally required to take off their shoes
unless the scan shows cause.

More importantly, the inmate is subjected to a strip search upon
return from visiting, court, work crews, etc. The articles of
clothing are thoroughly seached and the shoes are a special
target for search and they MUST come off so insoles and tongues
can be searched.

In the case of San Diego, the above even applies to honor camps
and I assume that to be pretty much true nationwide.

I stand behind my statement that jails and prisons in the USA is
not a market for the mag-shoe at all!! Again, if you ever find
proof to the contrary, feel free to rub my nose in it.
