That kind of structure is essentially what I (and I'm sure many others) have hoped for all these years.

One thing that is also interesting about the demo, and which hasn't been commented on to my knowledge, relates to the type of network we're looking at.

Although the Embassy permissions are derived from the network (presumably via cable using the PC), the SED is portable and was joined up using a USB port and the Bluetooth connection is proximate.

So we have three kinds of connection in play: one is network based; one is near field; one is physically attached.

Another kind of version of this network might surely have been achieved online - direct between two PCs (albeit with a mediating server), with the proximity access control from the Tab as a second form of connection to assure the presence of the recipient.

I'm also thinking about the use of a Tab rather than a phone, which would seem the more obvious choice of proxy device (portability, prevalence). It would have been really exciting if a mobile network was also involved in the transaction.
