OT: I prefer the direct support approach to fighting poverty and have supported 5 children and aged through this link for almost 10 years now:

Longtime and lenshawn make some fair points. But I have to chime in on lens comment re "shame on us ... if an american family goes hungry".
Look, I know if it wasnt for the great USA Australia will be speaking German,,,blah blah......whatever. The REALITY however is, if the USA cut it defense spending by 50%, it wouod solve its own poverty problem in TWO YEARS!!!!

So in other words, it would have practically no poverty, and the only downside is that it would have to be content with protecting its own shores rather than invading half of the planet.

If it means a world without poverty, Im happy to eat saurcraut and dumplings.
