Beamer, if Microsoft ran Intel, the chipset would be considered part of the "processor" and would be given away for free. After all, who ever said a "processor" has to refer to the CPU itself?
Then the graphics controller would also be considered part of the "processor." System builders can provide whatever graphics controller their customers demand, but they won't have access to the private "backdoor" interfaces that Microsoft's graphics controller enjoys.

P.S. - Replace "processor" with "OS", "chipset" with "browser", and "graphics controller" with Windows Media Center. Intel is hardly the monopoly that Microsoft is, yet the AMDroids hypocritically support the latter over the former.
