With all the criticism of the "lib" Dems, maybe you can you help poster gtober out as he can't name any programs the conserv Reps have pushed/passed to help the average citizen (note: not wealthy). We know the programs they tried to block.
You seem to be putting words in my mouth or trying to confuse Republicans with conservatives. That couldn't be further from the truth. If you look at the various political parties in our history many have put coalitions together to get support from the population. A look at Rockefeller Republicans in the 50's, 60, and 70's would find socially liberal Republicans but fiscally conservative. A look at Southern Democrats during that time would find the opposite - Socially conservative but not fiscally conservative. Since the passage of the Civil Rights act the Democrats of the south have migrated to the Republicans. Johnson knew when he signed the Civil Rights act that he was writing the South off for the Democrats. Social conservatives are evil people and full of hate and fear no matter what party. I just look forward to the 2006 election so we can start having those yellow alerts again don't you?
