You will not accept that there is a completely different way of dealing with social issues than by establishing government departments and quotas. It is this myopic thinking that will continue your own ignorance as to the progress the conservative movement has meant to America.
Conservatives cut taxes, remove obstacles and encourage people to excel. How about the fact that Reagan moved a lot of the decisions for administering social programs to the State level. Thereby removing much federal government interference and allowing more needy people to be helped.
You need to see a different paradigm at work and accept that people can be helped other than by a welfare check. People in America are given opportunity by these conservatives. Socialist America seeks to level everything for everyone. And, in doing so, robs everyone of their desire to excel.
Social Security, equal rights, welfare - etc. are not what makes America great. What makes her great is the free capitalist engine that fuels all of that. Without it, none of your treasured social programs would even be possible. This is the point lost on most liberals.
The simple fact that liberals cannot grasp is that these social issues are advanced under both parties. But, conservatives believe that individuals can make sound decisions if given opportunity. What a revelation.
