I have most of my money in 401K's and rely on diversity and dollar cost averaging in to compensate for my lack of market timing skill and not havving the guts to go all in when blood is running in the streets. Won't be a bazillionaire, but I won't ever have to eat catfood either.
I agree that the bottom was not that hard to spot in 03 looking back to 02. If I went all in and all out of the market, I could have done better.
Another thing I recall is the bears at Silicon Investor foaming at the mouth from 96-2001. They were screaming about valuations and shorting the high fliers. Few of them had any money left when they were proven right.
