Yeah jimmy....just for kicks. Tell that to those who've lost their retirement funds. "Yeah, jimmy was only kidding about all that stuff". I'm sure they'll find the humor.
The bull cook was the handy guy around the kitchen but he was not the cook. His main job was doing all the menial chores around the camp itself including some tasks in the kitchen. That old guy on my web page was my Father-in-law. He came west from Ontario and came to the mining camps of B.C. and other jobs. He was breaking horses at the famous Douglas Lake Ranch when they found out he was a fair hockey player. So the Merritt team got him a job driving the stage coach from Merritt to Princeton so the scheds interlocked with the hockey games. He also had met the famous Billy Miner who robbed the train at Monte Creek and much later in modern times they made the movie about. I tell my grandkids that their great grandfather actually drove a stage coach. It seems we have drifted into trivia on this board so that's my contribution for to-day. And yes .. my Father was in the trenches in WW 1 The Big One [Archie Bunker] and did get shot in the arm. With apologies here to all this morning.
