Ir will not be a problem. The paper labels on the plasitic are wood fiber. The small bits of plastic that may not vaporize completely after extended heating will then be taken care of by the steel recycler.

Maybe I should stop pouring lighter fluid on the logs to get the fire going. All this time I had it backwards -- I should have been throwing logs on the lighter fluid!

You are assuming that the pre-melter is a stationary device. Perhaps there is movement to help dislodge the liquid from the solid.
