Probably a poor choice of words. By cumbustion I meant the charring of the wood/cloth fibers and releasing of other organic and inorganic compounds into the gaseous mixture. What becomes of the other compounds that do not form into the hydrocarbons and are condensed into the 'fuel'? Do they remain in the gaseous limbo until the reactor is cooled down and they condense and are disposed of with the potential carbon black and wire (and other) remnants?
