Servier might be exercising the S-1632 option sooner than expected (deadline end of Oct), which will mean a $2 mil infusion for Cortex. Or some other news may be in the offing, or perhaps an investor just decided to roll the dice on ole Cor.
Also, Varney is probably looking around at a 'Plan B' alternative to raise money, just in case Servier doesn't exercise, so there could be some pps movement based on that.
As illiquid as the stock is, it doesn't take much retail buying/selling to move the pps all over the place. Taking a position moves it up to .10, but then how do you get out without driving it right back to .05? I considered getting a block of Cor, but it's just too illiquid. The bid/ask spreads are 20% or more.
