As far as I know they are in decent shape. I spoke to a friend in South Florida who, turns out, banks there. He did not see any apparent problems, at least not what customers would be aware of.
My guess, as to California, and this is pure speculation on my part, is to diversify the shareholder base, which I assume is more regional than national. I'm wondering why they did not stay longer and hit the Frisco area. I'll be curious to see if they do other dog and pony shows in other wealthy cities and suburbs.
