RTG Ventures, Inc. (OTCQB: RTGV) has released more information about the impending launch of its disruptive media technology, CloudChannel, to bring investors up to date with the product strategy. CloudChannel is a cloud-based media monetization service that is used to stream rights-managed video with subscription, pay-per-view and advertising supported revenue models.
CloudChannel will be marketed as a suite of integrated products that offers rights holders unprecedented control over their digital assets through online management tools or as a managed service. The first products to go live in the suite are being marketed to the music industry and will be CloudChannel Live!, which is a turnkey solution for monetizing concerts streamed live to digital devices and CloudChannel ONE, which is a point-to-point streaming service for premium catalog content. Both products are already being marketed to artists, management, record labels, sponsors and festival organizers.

CloudChannel records very detailed information on the media items uploaded into the systems allowing bespoke Web TV channels to be created using a wide variety of parameters including socio-economic groupings. Furthermore, because CloudChannel administers rights management and user accounts centrally, once a subscriber belongs to CloudChannel, they can access any Web TV Channel in the subscription package. Hawes-Fairley describes the system like cable TV to the power 10... and mobile.

CloudChannel is notably different from other Open Video Players (OVP) in that is has been specifically designed for the music industry. The rights management methodology used in the system will also enable rights holders to earn money from user generated content enabling the "long tail" of music video to be directly monetized for the first time.
