I agree with you totally. Here we grow probably 85% of all the food we eat.

We somtimes have power outages especially in Winter. One lasted 5 days. Everyone here knows that a full pantry helps, not only in power outages but also just to save the long drive to town.

We always make sure we have a couple full propane tanks. Those, plus a woodstove to keep us warm (and cook on if needed) plus all those jars in the pantry = a level of comfort that the majority of society has never known.

I gotta get some time to put some garden pictures on this board....I love looking at everyone's gardens!
