I agree! I think it's a foregone conclusion. There's nothing to drive volumes and revenue to pay for process development. It's only a matter of time. So, if IBM exits the semiconductor business who's going to fab their Power products? TSMC?

Wow. What does this say about IBM's ability to produce leading-edge CPUs? Of course, the Droids will spin this as a positive for them somehow...lol

I don't think the loss of Apple would affect IBM's overall
semi plans. Apple can be a really difficult customer and
Motorola seemed to be glad to let IBM take it off its hands
so it could focus on embedded control and telecom. Of
course the Mac is such a small part of thethe overall PC
market that Apple's Jedi mind tricks wouldn't work on
Intel. ;-)

I think the more interesting implications point in the
direction of Redmond rather than Poughkeepsie.
