If this is the case, I think it will accelerate IBM leaving the semi business, which is going to result in some very interesting things
I don't think the loss of Apple would affect IBM's overall
semi plans. Apple can be a really difficult customer and
Motorola seemed to be glad to let IBM take it off its hands
so it could focus on embedded control and telecom. Of
course the Mac is such a small part of thethe overall PC
market that Apple's Jedi mind tricks wouldn't work on
Intel.
I think the more interesting implications point in the
direction of Redmond rather than Poughkeepsie.
