IDCC can work with Ed Zander of MOT.

Catchnrel, I agree that Motorola (MOT) was probably mismanaged by the Galvin clan during the 1990s and early 2000s, but I truly believe that Ed Zander, who was appointed CEO of MOT in December 2003, is someone that IDCC will find receptive to licensing of IPR. Not only is Mr. Zander an honest person, but he is also a visionary. He was previously the COO at Sun Microsystems (SUNW) and its chief technology strategist. He was a major force in the development of Solaris, network computing, and Java. Unlike his predecessors at MOT, Mr. Zander has profound respect for IPR. When he was at SUNW, he had to go head-to-head against Microsoft in the now famous legal battle over Microsoft's attempts to subvert JAVA, which was SUNW's proprietary IPR.

Unless my assessment of Ed Zander is completely off base, I think that IDCC will now find it easier to cut a deal with MOT.
