I think the answer is the opposite one of your tone.

Its just semantics. tolerence to me is that I will not try to affect someones life just because they wear a burka. Tolerence does not mean that I have to educate my children to gain a deep understanding of someone elses idea of why someone else thinks some way or another. I do not have to worry about why Osama hates me. He does. He would kill me. that is intolerence. I do not know what kind of toilet training he had or whether he was rejected by a baywatch babe and became bitter

From my point of view the people who scream the loudest about intolerence are the least tolerant among us, because they have the daily feeling of it.

what i was trying to say earlier is not very deep. its that if you are trying to talk to an alien, you have to speak the same languge as he is speaking.

Do I think I can take my values and sensitivity training and use them as a weapon on other societies in the hopes of changing their behaviour?

no .

If I am going to interact with a group that I know and has told me that they are trying to kill me, the first thing I do is not to become tolerent of them. I would try to use their value systems, not mine, to interact with them, because otherwise they do not know what I am saying to them. My speaking to them with my value set assumes they can understand what I am saying. I cannot make that assumption

"People are prone to prejudice when they are not familiar with the traditions and value system of another group of people." is a very western new wave kind of thing. Osama spent a long period of his life becoming very familiar with the traditions and value systems ( or lack of them) of the west. Then he decided to be intolerent.

I do not have to go out of my way to become familiar with the traditions and value systems of others to be tolerent of them.
If they are not harming me and do not threaten me with harm, I won't harm them.

More Fiscal Irresponsibility.
That's what more tax cuts and more Deficits and more National Debt amount too. Stealing from our children that is what it is. For what, to stimulate the economy? Giving the Rich more money to spend is just the same dumb economic plan that RR used the trickle down stuff that was the cause of George the First's and Slick Willie's Tax Increases. How about just balancing the budget? And what about the new Gold Dinar? Pretty soon this fiat currency may not be worth all that much. Cutting the tax on dividends? What is that? An attempt to get the old bond money of the widows and orphans into the hands of the crooks on Wall Street. Or maybe just another way to get people to invest in high paying dividend stocks like........ Energy Companies. How about a sane foreign policy that doesn't make the rest of the world think American Capitalism and its products are not worth buying? I think you'll get more bang for you buck thinking along those lines.

Or something like that
Ergo Sum

PS I think a full burqa may just be the rage soon. More florocarbons and full burqas for all. Eleanor of Aquaitane dressed much like that when she lived in England during the last warm period
