when i was a kid, fishing for catfish, we used to catch gar on red river on trotline. my uncle taught me new words every time one was on the line.
he got them off the line, put his boot on the head, and cracked the spine of the fish, threw them back in. he said they were no good to eat, and not even good for bait.
these were like maybe 2-3 feet long
wonder what kind of monster he is catching in the trinity? it's very underfished, the trinity. mostly because it's the treated wastewater dump for so many towns around here
