Hi Steve,
If you are going to invest the the $10,000 or any part of it in something else, it is no longer "available". This seems to be the kind of record keeping that got Enron in trouble.
I still feel that reducing your income by such a large percentage makes LD AIm unsuitable for income producers. There is no guarantee that the volatility will happen. If it doesn't you have simply given up a large chunk of income on a sum of money representing almost 80% of your investment dollars.
