Are you sure?

According to industry standards, the Turtles weekend was a big disappointment

Comparing to other nature documentaries, it seemed to do farely well. As long as expansion keeps taking place, there is no reason that this will not top $1 million. It was in just over 20 theatres starting last Friday, and each week that will continue to rise. It is difficult to gauge how it will fare exactly and how it will continue to produce in sites already started and sites that they will be in. They had tough competition last week with the kids movie Cars 2, but I still expect Turtle to do well and surpass $3 million and hopefully more.

I stand corrected, I should have said weeks, as the roll-out was similar to what is planned for Turtles, if I understand right? If I look at your link, it went 4 theaters, 20, 64, 132, 695, and so on. I was attempting to make the point that it was more the movie and word of mouth, rather than large p and a funding that made MOTP successful.

Thanks!

but I will also bet the the movie will make less than 500 thousand in theaters.

I'm willing to bet it'll make at least 5 times that, IF the full release schedule is followed.
Going from 24 theaters to what, 400? I think that's easily doable even if the numbers aren't "great".
