rkc: I’m sorry to hear the bad news.

Stage 2/3a (which is what this sounds like from your description) is generally known as the “adjuvant” setting where, after surgery, 5FU/LV with or without Eloxatin is the standard of care. (5FU/LV+Eloxatin is known as the FOLFOX cocktail.)

There is not yet compelling data on Avastin in the adjuvant setting; Dr. Leonard Saltz, the well-known CRC specialist from Sloan Kettering, said at ASCO that he does not use Avastin himself in this setting.

The prognosis is quite good for disease caught at this stage.

For stage 3b/4, the standard of care is Avastin with either FOLFOX or FOLFIRI (which consists of 5FU/LV with Irinotecan).
