Questions for CRC folks

What is the current standard first-line chemo for CRC? I have not read the IMCL board in a year or more, and would appreciate any thoughts from those who follow this area. Should I assume that Avastin will be included in the first line treatment? What questions would you ask an ocologist if you were newly diagnosed?

This morning my father-in-law had a tumor removed from his colon. Per the doc, it was "large", located at the corner of the ascending and the transverse colons.

I'm assuming it will be staged as II or III, but not IV. A CAT scan yesterday showed no spread, and the surgeon said he saw none locally (eg, the liver looked ok), but I believe it went thru the colon wall. We have no pathology back yet on lymph nodes.
