I will get you data, but it is merely a matter of degree, so I cannot disagree if you want to include hitler and various pogroms in eastern europe. jews had been in constantinople for a very long time and alexandria for that matter. I am afraid to start a contest of who has done worst.

but my question really is about the ottoman empire and nothing to do with jews. why didnt the bagdadi revolt against the ottomans? they did not have a leader

interesting, but a bizarre mixture of democracy and barbarity:

Selim I had to fight for the Sultanate, but Suleyman was the only son of Selim and so inherited the crown without a struggle. Once a Sultan had assumed the throne, all his brothers were executed as well as all their sons—had Selim I lost his bid for the crown, Suleyman would have been killed. These executions guaranteed that there would be no future wars or struggles between claimants to the throne since all the contenders but one were out of the picture.

why did they kill all the armenians and hate the kurds?

and where did the kurds come from anyway? did thye migrate in from somewhere else.. they are not arabs

and the harems of circassians?

and why the constant story of cruel turks coming from europe?

Speaking of persecution:

The Greeks were persecuted for 400 years by the Muslim Turks. In fact the Greeks were almost wiped out, exterminated, by the Turks. It is amazing than any Greeks in fact still remain. You know, the people that gave us philosophy, mathematics, democracy, science, medicine, arts, etc... Yet I don't hear or read in the national news anything about them. Also the Tibetans by the Chinese, the Indians by white Americans, the Aborigines by the English/Australians, the Blacks by the South Africans and on and on and on...

There are many ethnic groups in this country that their fore fathers were persecuted for one reason or another, yet the new generations have moved on. They are now Americans and that's what matters most to them than something that happened hundreds of years ago. But the Jews for some reason, keep reminding everyone, get all the media attention like they are the only ones that were ever persecuted and they keep reminding everyone year after year, movie after movie, speech after speech, lawsuit after lawsuit. If the reason was to make sure that we as humans don't forget so that we don't repeat history, IT AIN'T WORKING. Cause not only there are many examples of non-Jewish examples of persecution and extermination that can be used for historic lessons, but in fact now, the ones that were persecuted are persecuting themselves. Israelis and the Palestinians are trying to do the same thing to each other.

The world has gone mad! Time to move past all that hate!
