Patrick Cox 6/7/11 Article About Meeting Pt.4 Also, I repeat my counsel not to obsessively follow tickers. It will make you crazy. Look only at the science and the fundamentals. Stop calculating how much theoretical money you’ve made or lost due to market gyrations.

By the way, several other factors bode well for Star Scientific stock in the long run, which is all I have energy to be concerned about. One was the appearance of Maureen McDonnell, wife of Virginia Gov. Robert McDonnell, at the Roskamp event.

McDonnell announced that she and her husband were going to spearhead an effort to lower Virginia’s health care costs by encouraging the use of anatabine. She joked, in fact, that she was willing to drive Miller around personally to visit every doctor in the state of Virginia. This is significant for several reasons.

One reason is that this raises the obvious possibility that Virginia may be able to test state employees’ CRPs and other inflammatory markers before and after starting anatabine use. It’s also, obviously, great PR for Star. If, as I forecast, widespread use of anatabine in Virginia succeeds in lowering the state’s medical costs, the game is won. This could happen quite quickly, by the way.

Also, the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Stanford v. Roche bolstered Star’s standing in its bid to collect damages from tobacco companies that used the safer tobacco curing technology invented by CEO Jonnie Williams. This is good news in general because it confirms the first-to-invent principle against first-to-file
