Many of the investors who attended were physicians with anatabine stories. Many reported relief from prostatitis. IBS is another disorder that seems to respond particularly well to anatabine. We’ll have to wait for real clinical evidence before we have a complete picture of anatabine’s impact on the killer conditions like cancer, AD and heart disease.

Still, a substance that successfully treated only IBS and prostatitis would be a blockbuster. I do, however, have a great deal of confidence that we will find a significant benefit in preventing or treating the killers. I’m very anxious to find out just how significant that benefit is.

Obviously, I’m an economist and a forecaster, not a scientist. I can speculate in ways that an investigating scientist would never speculate. I speculate, therefore, that anatabine is the most powerful anti-inflammaging strategy to date and it’s going to disrupt practically every aspect of our lives.

This makes anatabine almost unbelievable. Moreover, the early profile of Star Scientific didn’t appear on the surface to be one of scientific sophistication. It has proven otherwise with alliances with Roskamp and Johns Hopkins, but I think a lot of analysts were expecting the company to fizzle with a marginally effective anti-smoking technology. For this reason, I suspect that a lot of short sellers are up to their eyebrows in Star Scientific shorts. With the new information being generated about anatabine, the shorters are looking at a potentially ruinous short squeeze.

The entire biotech sector is under savage short attacks right now. That’s how shorters make money when the market is headed down. The desperation-driven behavior of the attackers is increasingly crossing the line into unethical and probably illegal territory. You’re going to hear extremely shrill accusations made in the months to come against Star Scientific and many other of our most-important companies. Be very careful about believing them. The most obvious sign of the short attacker is the inference of fraud. I do not believe that any of our companies are fraudulent. Some may fail, but not because they have tried to defraud anybody.
