I agree with you but definitely holding my nose as I take the plunge into the long side : (
MU is silly.. and definitely not anything for shorts to celebrate as an indicator for where the techs/semis are headed over the next week.. Theres a reason MU is the only true memory manufacturer in America, and that reason has been known for a long time..
On an interesting 'spin' note- memory prices have been steadily rising and I can tell you first hand that the margins have improved drastically for us in the last 2-3 weeks.. Especially the pc-100 segment where they are now scamming people by no longer making pc133 downward compat. and its no shock that the price on the pc-100 modules was bumped up considerably- and we are making more profit on our pc-100 then all the DDR densities/pc133 densities..
Everyone dwells on DDR and the margins, when in actuality I need to sell 3 DDR modules to obtain the same profit I get on 1 pc100/sdram module.. Even better is the old simm modules, which when you take into account that the machines these are going into should be nothing more then doorstops- the margins on one simm modules is comparable to about 10 ddrs.. and we sell a LOT of simm modules..
Anyhow- my point being that MU is a poor representation of the sector.. MU is a POS.. : )
