Thanks Jim....I haven't been reading much over the past couple of days....has anyone floated the idea that maybe the change was made to eliminate unneeded personnel if a buy out or takeover was happening? Silly, I know....but maybe add it to the other reasons.

Here is one person's shot at editing that Merritt profile based on info we got in the IDCC press release and cc last week.(He da MAN! IMHO)

William J. Merritt - Profile

William J. Merritt serves as InterDigital Communications' President and
Chief Executive Officer . He is also a member of the Board of Directors.

In addition, Mr Merritt continues to retain his previous responsibilities as President of
InterDigital Technology Corporation (ITC), InterDigital's intellectual
property subsidiary, and General Patent Counsel, positions he has held since 2001.
In that role he manages InterDigital's intellectual property assets, overseeing the growth in its patent licensing business. Mr. Merritt has stated that he plans to delegate some of his ITC responsibilities as soon as suitable candidates can be identified.

Mr. Merritt joined InterDigital as Vice President, Law in 1996. He was promoted to Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 1998 and, in 1999, to Executive Vice President.

As InterDigital's chief legal officer, he played a leading role in negotiating strategic agreements with leading companies in the telecommunications industry, and in building InterDigital's patent licensing subsidiary into a major revenue producer.

In 2001, he was elected President of its intellectual property subsidiary, InterDigital Technology Corporation and General Patent Counsel.

Prior to joining InterDigital in 1996, he served as Assistant General
Counsel with the Long Island Lighting Company in Hicksville, NY.
Previously, Mr. Merritt concentrated his engineering efforts with Public
Service Electric and Gas Company and Stone & Webster.

He graduated from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1980 where he
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He earned his
J.D. degree from Temple University in 1987.

Currently, Mr. Merritt holds admissions in the States of Pennsylvania and
New York, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of
New York, The U.S. Court of Appeals (11th Circuit), and the U.S. Patent &
Trademark Office.
