fwiw, I don't think the "D" is the reason for the large spread.

I've just been through two of these RS with CUSIP changes (OPHI, MIKP).
For both, there was a reasonable spread during the "D" phase.

I think the insane spread is simply due to the lack of info about the new company.
With no info, no one can determine a strike price, not even the MMs.
So we sit in limbo, waiting for info...
