......and I remember reading about the Romanian & Russian orphanages..horrible stories. I swear I remember that some poor little babies grew up never even walking on two feet .. they walked like doggies .. . due to a LACK of any human touch or support in any way ... oh ... it was horrible ! I hope it was all fiction what I read ! .....IN that same vein .. I also read that some one or some organization was sort of taking care of some of them as best as they could .. all though the outcome was that .. they SIMPLY could not be changed .. so so sad ...
properlynumb, I remember reading in The Origins and History of Consciousness by Erich Neumann of his idea of the very beginning .. his theory of the origin of human consciousness being when we first distinguished ourselves, our 'self' from the universe .. our individuality from the all .. don't know if other animals ever do in the same way .. guess they do as when they fight, or better still LOVE, for example, there must be an 'I' in that .. lol ..
Anyway .. Neumann's idea, on from Jung who progressed from Freud is that each one of us .. each baby in coming in to the world and thereafter in each individual evolution goes through the same stages, so first for a baby there would be some unrecognized, i guess, realization of a separation .. an "I" .. then as you say .. (sounds good enough for us .. lol)
"We associate our senses, as they develop, to emotions.
Emotional perception would be our first contact with a new world.
Then we form a logical understanding based on individual emotions; love, security, and compare them to external stimulus; touch, vision.
All growing more complex as we interact with our surroundings."
Also, I remember reading a suggestion that later .. the ego, center of our consciousness, which is unable to cope with the 'bigger picture' .. e.g. (kinda just making this up) that is say the interminable conflict throughout the world, and unable to cope with turmoil within .. unable to assimilate, i guess .. is actually an undeveloped ego .. (i don't take that as a real negative it just makes life harder) .. unable or unwilling to separate itself comfortably and securely from the 'whole', and/or from our each individual sub(un)consciousness .. lol, something like that .. it makes some sense .. so sadly suicide for some who just decide it is all too much to bear ..
"Survival and money are a primitive part of the brain shared with our less than human ancestry."
For sure "survival" .. Our Animal Instinctual Passions in the Primitive Brain .. excerpt ..
Indeed LeDoux regards the amygdala as the alarm system, for bodily safety – hence the necessity for a quick scan and an almost instantaneous instinctive (thoughtless) response. This ‘quick and dirty processing pathway’ results not only in a direct automatic bodily response to either an actual or a perceived danger, but because the amygdala also has a direct connection to the neo-cortex – it causes us to emotionally experience the feeling of fear – i.e. we feel the feeling of fear a split-second later than the bodily reaction.
Not only is the primitive brain’s response ‘quick and dirty’, it is also very powerful in that it primes the whole body for action – which is precisely why instinctual reactions and the resulting instinctual passions are ultimately so hard to keep in control. http://actualfreedom.com.au/library/topics/instincts.htm
It fits with the reactions of people as Beck and many of our iHub conservatives .. lol, the personal REACTION to argument and so ATTACK or DISPARAGEMENT .. the description of the to and fro within society, of discussion on here, as a WAR .. LOL .. the AGGRESSIVE ATTITUDE (caps only for emphasis) .. the FEAR .. the EVIL .. to describe a 'sublime' (though rocky sometimes) .. flow of change .. of difference ..
"Of course, Goldman Sachs is a vampire squid, LOL" .. YUP .. for sure .. ummm, for one's sake HERE we mean of course the PEOPLE who comprise Goldman Sachs ..
That's understood for most of us, of course .. ROTFLMAO!
Ps: forgot "money" .. i agree the love of it .. the need of it .. the judgment in it is primitive and often banal .. unfortunately we all need a little at least of it .. and it really should be shared more ..
