I could be wrong too,but this is how i have always seen it explained,I dont want to be an arrogant ass,so I'm open to correction,but I've always understood the MM to simply be a go between for the buyer and seller,but also able to trade as well and the "smaller" the stock ,the more influence he has to manipulate and influence price action.
