Gump-a full count is available and can be taken any time:
The TA can give a count of all shares in certificate form.
The DTCC sheets indicate the total of shares held in electronic format/street name.
You don't need a shareholder by shareholder count.
As of January, 2004 the total of all fails of one day or more for 3,075 Pink Sheet and BB stocks was about 380 million shares. SHO level fails for all 3075 stocks combined were around 225 million shares.
The year end value of all open fails at the NSCC as of December 31, 2004 was $3 billion on a mark to market basis. That is for a total of 9,000 exchange listed, BB's and Pinks.
There is simply nothing that supports a massive "naked short" in this stock, and the economics of such an action would be lunacy.
