Once fully operational, Pearl GTL is expected to produce 1.6 billion cubic feet of gas per day from the North Field, which will be processed to deliver an expected 120,000 barrels per day of condensate, LPG and ethane and an expected 140,000 barrels per day of gas-to-liquids (GTL) products[i.e. 260K boe/d in all] using Shell's unique technological and project management capabilities. Shell is the operator of the Pearl GTL plant developed under a Development and Production Sharing Agreement with the Government of the State of Qatar.
SHEL—(-3%)—says war damage to Qatar’s Pearl GTL plant will take one year to repair and; for investors, this production loss outweighs the robust 1Q26 profits due to the high price of oil:
Iran’s attacks on Qatar damaged one of two units at the company’s Pearl gas-to-liquids plant that will require a year’s worth of repairs. Shipments from a liquefied natural gas facility, of which Shell owns 30% in a joint venture with Qatar Energy, have also been shut down while the strait remains largely logjammed.
…Shell has lost roughly 10% of its total production because of damaged or shutdown assets in Qatar.
