C) Shovel out the show from around the tires, start out in second gear, and press accelerator gently
ANSWER: C) Correct!By accelerating hard, the snow around the tires becomes more compact, making traction almost impossible. Plus, heavily compacted snow can get into the tire treads, which can also prevent good traction. By starting in second gear, there is less torque (turning effort) required of the wheels.
Another helpful hint is to spread sand or gravel in front of all four wheels to improve tractions. Once the car is dislodged, do not stop or slow down until the vehicle has reached more level ground, or a firmer surface.
