Fewer people driving to the beach to dig those razors too, I love that. The end result, we will get more days to fill the quota. :>)KEEP CLAM

Hi Newly. I don't buy it. I've been driving on the SoCal freeways for 18 years to construction sites from Carlsbad to Oxnard to Yucaipa and beyond in all three directions. It's a couple weeks in Simi Valley then a two-day job in Irvine and then a month in Riverside, downtown L.A for a week then some small job in San Clemente............anywhere and everywhere there's work. I spend A LOT of time on the roads. I can't confirm what you're observing on the Interstate highways and California State highways. Perhaps your friend's story is a fluke. Nothing would please me more than for the roads to free up and knock 5-10% off my travel time. I don't know a single person who uses public transportation in Los Angeles. Hell, my cleaning lady drives a $20K car. LOL She's not about to take the bus around to her couple dozen residential clients. VERY FEW people who don't already use the bus are going to switch based on fuel. If the freeways and streets slow down it's a sign of a slowing economy as workers are laid off or cut back on days/hours. I took off the last couple months to loaf around and spend time on my family and home........Oh what the heck, I'm just loafing. So I might be missing a dramtic slowdown if it just started after February. Just seems far fetched that people can choose to walk, ride bikes or take the bus around Los Angeles. Nobody walks in L.A.

Newly. Interesting that you posted something about traffic. Earlier this week I thought of posting a similiar experience.

My commute to my business is about 22 miles. With few exceptions I laways plan my trip after the rush hours. However, I still run into a bit of traffic at night. Well, for the last three weeks traffic has been the lightest I have seen. I also noticed that in the past my wife and I never discussed gas prices. Now we are clueing each other to who has the lowest prices.

I would imagine that malls and others are experiencing less foot traffic as well. The next retial reports could be telling. I would also expect we would see continued build in gas inventories.
