Highbeam is a paid service, covers podunk newspapers and the self serving PR's Carraway paid for on PR newswire. The independant sources are limited.
Oh, my list is shorter because I delelted all of the 1997 stuff which would be the last period Carraway reported financials for and is therefore irrelevant to this discussion.

Green Oasis
Environmental Updated
Well everyone has to eat crow from time-to-time, and this writer is no exception. However, this crow is a perfect example of how information on the Web can suffer from rumor and the lack of verification. Basically, I'm saying that if this can happen to me, it can happen to you as well.
Last year I wrote an article entitled "Better Read That Again: Web Hoaxes and Misinformation," which appeared in the September 2000 issue of Searcher. In the article I wrote 'Another example involves the company Green Oasis Environmental (GOE) [http:// www.greenoasis.com/] of Charleston, South Carolina. GOE spammed bulletin boards with more than 8,000 posts claiming it had perfected technology to change waste motor oil into diesel fuel. As the stock prices soared, from around $1 to $10 by February 1997, company officers dumped more than 7,000 shares, taking home around $2.3 million. The SEC brought a lawsuit against the CEO and others seeking a return of profits to investors. Lawsuit or not, GOE is still making this claim on its Web site."
The sources I drew from included Business Week online and other Internet news sources. As an environmentalist, I have to admit I was not particularly overjoyed to report negatively on a company that seemed like it was dedicated to making the world a better place. Recent information sheds new light on the claims that I made, and I want to clarify the Green Oasis situation.
First of all, the SEC case against Green Oasis has been settled without a fine. The information that GOE spammed on bulletin boards was an error. A Mr. Reece, who was apparently not employed by the company, was never paid or offered stock by the company, independently broadcast information on bulletin boards. The SEC settled its case with Mr. Reece by fining him $10,000 for his illegal touting of GOE stock.
Since the SEC settled, without a fine or punitive measures against the officers of GOE, the claim that "officers dumped company stock and took home around $2.3" is apparently also an error:
Whether the technology that GOE uses to convert waste motor oil into diesel fuel, and which was based on a patent obtained by a Mr. W. Thomas Jones, works or not, is up to the interested parties to determine.
So be ever vigilant to what you read on the Web. It may read differently tomorrow. AUTHOR_AFFILIATION
