No such act called the California Desert Wilderness Act exists, but funny none the less, try looking up CEQA that is the California Environmental Quality Act, that is an actual act that is current and is in effect.

I am responding to your post about the Biggs Mine, also in Inyo County.

"The company plans to conduct exploration, including drilling, on several targets during 1995."



Canyon Resources was traded on the NASDAQ but is now part of Atna Resources Ltd.

Appears they got into trouble due to failure to control dust and mining was halted.
The Biggs Mine closed in 2004 but they are working to re-open new areas using previous permits.

More problems:
Canyon failed on passing I-147, the company has claimed to be researching cyanide-free mining methods in hopes to continue their work.

James Hesketh, President and CEO, states, "The Briggs Mine sold approximately 25,100 ounces of gold in 2010 generating revenues in excess of US$30 million. The original areas of the Briggs Mine played out and they needed to start exploring.

Atna Commences Briggs Mine Exploration

Golden, CO -- Atna Resources Ltd. ("Atna") -- (TSX:ATN -- OTCBB:ATNAF) is pleased to announce the commencement of a new exploration and definition drilling program on targets at its Briggs Mine, in Inyo County, California. The program will include 25,000 to 30,000 feet of reverse circulation rotary drilling.

The Deep Briggs mineralization is classified primarily as indicated and inferred mineral resource based upon the currently available data. Drilling will consist of both delineation and step-out drilling in this zone.
