square with your current clarification:

"I mean union protection against arbitrary and unfair management action. Of course, some workers trust management to always do the right thing" ?

Why should any worker trust management to always do the right thing? That's what retaining the freedom to find another job is for. Some self-appointed spokesperson allegedly speaking on behalf of workers assert that workers should trust the union (another form of management) to always do the right thing. The result is slavery. Slavery is the lack of freedom to find alternative (better) employment.

Union organizing against the government as the employer is all the more puzzling. Why add yet another layer of bureaucracy?

So Management at the Financial Institutions like banks, insurance companies, and all of those smart people on Wall Street did the right thing for all of there workers, and customers by processing and selling all of those bogus mortagages.

Wal-Mart reports earnings on Tuesday morning, and they have been doing just great things for all of those employees by forcing them into part-time jobs, eliminating benefits, taking away mandatory profit sharing contributions, forcing them to double up on positions when another employee either quits or is eliminated from the payroll.

America has become a country where you are either part of the rich and privilaged, or you are just another person who needs a job and will work for less money and benefits than the person who currently has a job.

So lets all be like Wal-Mart, pay people just above the minium wage, give them non existent benefits, and allow those companies to do whatever they want. Most people are to young on this board to no what slave labor and wages were all about.

There is no free market in america anymore, just a government that wants to protect big corporations.
